Lentvaris 1916
A feldpost postcard of Landwarowo, now Lentvaris, Lithuania, sent in 1916 from the feldpost station 166 by the Royal Prussian Landsturm batallion from Essen. Royal Prussian Landsturm was originally created in the early 19th century to recruit non-professional soldier against Napoleon. It is generally considered as a 3rd-class militia. The castle of Lentvaris (Landwarów in Polish) on the picture still stands today, you can even see it from the train window on the line Vilnius-Kaunas.
