Kaunas 1936

These are 2 receipts of postal money order sent in 1936 from Kaunas to Surviliškis, a small town near Kaunas with a population of little over 300. I have decided to post those because the postmarks are very clear! The left one has been sent on March 6th from Kaunas centr. (centrinis paštas/central post office) to Surviliškis arriving on the next day, the right one on March 26th from Kaunas - Gelež. Stotis (geležinkelio stotis/railway station) to the exact same destination. The numbers with the inscriptions "Lt." (Litas) and "ct." (centas) on the top are the amounts (1 Litas = 100 centas) sent.

Šatės 1907

This is a postal money order sent in 1907 from Шаты/Shaty (now Šatės, Lithuania), Ковен.Г.(Ковенская Губерния/Kovna Gubernia) to Вилыкомıр/Vilkomir (now Ukmergė, Lithuania) also in Kovna gubernia. Šatės is a village not far from Skuodas with a population of little over 400.

a parcel registry sent in 1936 from Švėkšna to Kaunas. Švėkšna is a small town in Šilutė district with a population of 2400.

This is telegraph service receipt issued in 1907 by the post office in Оникшты / Onikshty (now Anykščiai, Lithuania), Ковенск. г./Kovenskaya Guberniya (Kovna/Kaunas Gubernia).

Klaipėda 1920

This is a postal money order form in mint condition issued in 1920 for the Memelgebiet. 50p value is already imprinted in the card with the Memel overprint. One of the "low catalogue value but hard to find" item!

Jašiūnai 1943

An international parcel registry card sent in 1943 from a local post office in Jašiūnai(Wilna/Vilnius county)to Trenenbrietzen. Jašiūnai is a small town with the population less than 2000, located east of Vilnius, not far from the Belarusian border. You can see that the Nazi authority did not bother germanizing the names of small towns and villages.

Šiauliai precancellation 1941-45

Those Hitler stamps with Šiauliai/Schaulen precancellation were used mainly as proof of payment for prepaid postal services sometime between 1941 and 1945. In this case, it is a copy of a receipt of an insured registered shipment from Šiauliai. There are few other places that have used those local precanceled stamps, the most famous one within Ostland were the ones of Peetri, Estonia. How they used those precancellations, are not entirely clear but each location has not used them for the exact same purposes.

Skuodas 1942

This is a domestic parcel registry card sent in 1942 from Skuodas to Ossersee(now Zarasai, Lithuania). You can see from the cancellations that the parcel has been sent from a local post office in Skuodas but received by the Dienstpost office in Ossersee/Zarasai. The card is bilingual, written in both, German and Lithuanian.
