And of course, the last Lietuvos Vaikas issue comes with the air post stamps too! Maironis, Juozas Tumas-Vaižgantas, Vincas Kudirka and Julija Žemaitė, all 4 people depicted on the stamps are poets and writers. I personally like the last 2 Žemaitė stamps the best. The name "Žemaitė" reminds me of Zemaitis Guitars, a British guitar-manufacturing company based in Tokyo, Japan founded by a Lithuanian named Antanas (Tony) Kazimeras Žemaitis who was a legendary luthier (someone who makes lutes of string instruments).

Fourth Lietuvos Vaikas issue 1933

This is the fourth and the last issue of Lietuvos Vaikas that came out on the 16th of September 1933. We finally get to see some "Lietuvos Vaikas" (Lithuanian children) on the stamps, which were never depicted in the previous issues. On the 15 ct. and 25 ct. stamps, we see a child reading a book, and we can assume that the previous issues were about stories the children have been reading or told from their parents.

Third Lietuvos Vaikas issue - Air post 1933

This third issue of Lietuvos Vaikas consists only of air post stamps unlike the other issues from an unknown reason (at least to me). It is written 1932 on all the stamps but these have been issued on May 6th 1933. According to Michel 2010, this issue has the highest catalog value of 50 Euro total for both perforated and imperforated stamps set.

Second Lietuvos Vaikas issue - Air post 1932

These are air post stamps of the second Lietuvos Vaikas issue. As I have mentioned in the thread of the first issue, this second issue has also both perforated and imperforated stamps. According to my Michel catalog 2010, the first 8 stamps of the second issue have a catalog value of 30 Euro total (imperforated ones have the exact same value) and the 8 air post stamps I have just posted are for 45 Euro.

Second Lietuvos Vaikas issue 1932

This is the second Lietuvos Vaikas issue of 1932. It has been issued on December 1st. The 50 and 60 centai stamps depict the battle of Žalgiris that took place in 1410. The Germans call it the battle of Tannenberg, the Poles call it Grunwald. It is interesting that the description in the stamp itself calls it "Grunwald" just like how the Poles call.

Those are the air post stamps of the first Lietuvos Vaikas issue set of 1932. Each issue comes with regular stamps and air post stamps. The first 2 stamps are interesting, it has a map of Lithuania in 1932 and shows you the Polish occupied Vilnius region.

I have received several remarks by mail that I should post more stamps. Yes, I have promised that I would post more stamps and I haven't done it yet much, I admit it.. so here we go! I really like 1930's Lithuanian stamp designs and this set is among my favorite. It is the first "Lietuvos Vaikas" (Lithuanian child) series (there are several other sets) issued in july 23rd 1932 for the benefit of Lithuanian orphans (Michel 316-323, Scott 256-263). They are both perforated and imperforated (the last picture of the bloc of 4) issue in all 8 stamps, the first 3 stamps 102,000 copies printed, 4th and 5th stamp 62,000 copies printed and the last 3 stamps 50.000 copies. There are 4 kinds of designs, Kaunas central railway station, Nenumas river, Kaunas central post office and the cathedral of Vilnius.
