The first Lietuvos Vaikas issue - Air post 1932

Those are the air post stamps of the first Lietuvos Vaikas issue set of 1932. Each issue comes with regular stamps and air post stamps. The first 2 stamps are interesting, it has a map of Lithuania in 1932 and shows you the Polish occupied Vilnius region.

  1. In the map it is shown also the area of Suwałki (Suvalkai in Lithuanian).
Afterwards Lithuania gained Vilnius, but Suwałki reained with Poland.

    Interesting stamps indeed!
    Best wishes.

  2. Yes, you are very right! I personally like Suwałki. Larger towns are mainly Polish speaking but there are villages where Lithuanian speaking population is the majority. This makes it much more similar to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania than the modern Lithuania itself!

  3. Interesting in the discussion of the Polish - Lithuanian conflict is the fact, that the former German government made NOT many efforts to avoid the Lithuanian Annexion of the "Memelgebiet" (Klaipeda revolt - see wikipedia). It seems, that they wanted to weaken up the Polish position.

    1. I'm not surprised. The Germans were definitely not happy about the result of WWI. From the German perspective, the country that gained the most out of their territories, was Poland. The French are traditionally very friendly to Poland and there were rumors that they would hand Memel out to the Poles instead of the Lithuanians.
