440th Anniversary of the Union of Lublin 2009

I just love this commemorative cancel! It's commemorating the 440th Anniversary of the Union of Lublin signed by Poland and Lithuania. It was an exclusive postmark for the post office in Lublin, Poland. the coat of arms of the commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania depicting the Polish eagle and the Lithuanian Vytis is just beautiful!

  1. Sometimes I thought that, without that Union, perhaps Lithuania nowadays would be a "Protestant" Country.

    1. Interesting point of view. It might have been Orthodox as well. These "If" in history are very interesting to imagine. If the German Tutonic Order did not have such aggressive policy, I think the German influence might have been greater unless they have won the battle of Zalgiris/Grunwald.
