It is postcard with the reply part still attached, used in 1913 from Ляцково / Lyatzkowo (now Leckava, Lithuania) to Лайжево / Layzhevo (now Laižuva, Lithuania). Both are small village in the present Mažeikiai district, and had large percentage of Jewish population. From the 2001 census, Leckava had a population of 235 and Laižuva 560. According to IAJGS International Jewish Cemetery Project homepage, in the year 1900, Leckava had 830 of jewish population and Laižuva 434. Both villages still have a well preserved jewish cemetery. The inscription of "Ков" in both cancellations is the abreviation of Ковна/Kovna Gubernia.

  1. Hello! I am a student writing about the Jews in Leckava area. Most grateful for this post. I will try to get the Yiddish text translated. But, maybe you have got it translated already?
